Users

The functions on this page allow the system administrator to maintain user information. It is common for this user information to be synchronized with a directory service from the server, such as the Unix login information or NT login information.

Any user who needs to access secured areas of the intranet must be defined in this table with a login name.

A user may belong to any number of groups, and has the security permissions of all of those groups.

A user who has not yet logged in is assigned the user login name "Anonymous", which is a member of the "Everybody" group only.

The following fields are defined for a User:

Field Description
User Id A system assigned numerical identifier for this user.
User Login Name The name the user will use to login to the intranet. If there is an existing NT or Unix login for this user, it is often useful to have the same login name for the intranet to avoid having two names to remember.
Password When adding a new user, you may specify an initial password with this field. Once a user is added, the contents of this field are stored in an encrypted format and cannot be edited directly. The user can change their password by means of the "Change Password" form. Note that users without permission to edit the user information cannot see the password field.
User E-Mail Address When event notifications and reports are forwarded via e-mail, this field gives the e-mail address to use when sending to this user. Set to "none" if this field is not valid for a particular user.
Registration Domain Id A drop-down list of registered Domains to select from.
Is User Account Active? A drop-down list to select if this user is "Active", "Disabled", etc.
Has User Completed Registration? This field allows the administrator to maintain status of a user's registration as "Complete" or "Incomplete".
Account Creation Date A system maintained field showing the date and time this user record was created.
Account Update Date A system maintained field showing the last date this record was updated.
Validation code for Email Used only internally by the system for sending out validation emails to users.
User Full Name The full name of the user. It is recommended to use the natural form (e.g. first name last name), not Last, First.
